Charleston, SC – Authorities are investigating an incident in which one person was found injured near the Grandview Apartments in Charleston late Monday night.

Officers with the Charleston Police Department responded around midnight to the apartment complex on Magwood Drive following reports of possible gunfire in the area.

At the scene, police discovered an individual with leg injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. According to Charleston PD spokesman Sgt. Anthony Gibson, there were no actual reports of anyone being shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to receive treatment.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the individual being injured. Sgt. Gibson said the police were initially called to the Grandview Apartments for reports of gunfire but determined the victim’s wounds were caused by apparent blunt force trauma from a vehicle strike.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
