LEXINGTON, S.C. -On November 3, 2023, a driver was cited for following too closely after a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus on Friday afternoon, police reported.
The incident occurred on Mineral Springs Road and involved a school bus from Lexington County School District One. The road was temporarily closed in both directions while police investigated the scene and crews cleared damaged vehicles.
According to authorities, the investigation led to a citation for the van driver for following too closely behind another vehicle. The citation carries a $232.50 fine and four points on the driver’s record, said a police spokesperson.
Police reported that the van struck the vehicle in front of it, pushing that car into the back of the stopped school bus. The three students and bus driver were uninjured in the collision, officials confirmed.
The school bus was completing an afternoon route for River Bluff High School students when the crash occurred, a district spokesperson stated. Lexington School District One staff arrived at the scene afterwards to reunite students with parents.
